Carl was feeling exhausted- physically and mentally...he needed MAJOR downtime to relax and recharge his batteries.
Thankfully, he had completed his daily wrestling practice- showered and changed, before heading down to the Commons to relax. Taking an apricot he had purloined from the Dinning Hall at breakfast, he wandered into the Commons area and flopped down on a sofa. Biting into the piece of fruit, he opened his Mountain Biking News magazine and began to read. Soon he could feel him body beginning to sink and meld to the soft upholstery of the sofa...ahhh- bliss!
He needed this...he needed this SOOOOO much right now. There were exams not too far away and the pressure to study and train hard for the wrestling team were demanding more and more of his time and energy. He didn't want to give up either of them in favor of the other...so he had to make a compromise.
Such is lfe...

Cardinal burst into the common room hunched in on himself and shuffling like an anemic elderly person in front of a line, with a dash of chihuahua-grade shivering. “Who decided winter was a good idea!?” He demanded of the room's occupants, not at all caring that his question didn't have to asked in his outside voice—especially being rhetorical—or that he was sufficiently disturbing the peace.
No, he didn't care because, damn, he was freezing. This wasn't even his intended upon destination. He had been trying to get to his house, but quickly aborted the attempt when the blade-sharp wind whipped through his very stylish, but far too thin jacket—he had been a bit of an optimist when getting dressed that morning.
So here he was, stuck, until he was ready to risk the harsh conditions—the boy was convinced the arctic tundra was outside of those doors—or, more likely, wrangled a friend into bringing him a thicker coat.
Cardinal flopped down on a couch, quickly thrusting his chilled hands between his thighs in order to warm them up. He gave a great dramatic shiver. In doing so, he realized there was someone seated at the other end of the couch—Cardinal was very observant this way. The boy was vaguely familiar in the way all underclassmen were to him. “It's ridiculously cold outside.” He said to him as if it were a bit of esoteric knowledge and not perfectly obvious.

Sour Worms....Carl could really gone for Sour Worms as he reclined on the sofa reading his magazine. Right now, the taste of the tangy squishy gelatin candy would have been just the thing to hit the spot in his hankering for culinary stimulation- not that his apricot was a poor sustitute...oh no.
Well...he didn't. So had to be satisfied with what he had. He sighed and turned over the page in his magazine. All of a sudden, the peace of his revere is broken. "“Who decided winter was a good idea!?” he voice asked rhetorically. Looking over the top of his magazine he saw a guy- who he thought was an upper classman, who seemed to have just walked in from the Arctic tundra. He looked cold and wet and in need of a nice mug of hot chocolate (Mmmm...hot chocolate *gargle*). Carl help but chuckle to himself at the fellow's misfortune...it could happen to anyone.
Returning to his magazine he was disturbed- yet again, by the sensation of someone sitting down hard on the end of the sofa. Again it was the human Popsicle. "Opps! 'Scuse me..." he said politely, pulling his legs over to make room for the fellow student. He smiled as the obvious was stated to him. "Yeah...I hear it is like that this time of year around here..." he smile amiably. "I often find taking a warm shower and then changing into fresh warmer clothes helps" he said in response.
